VISIT SHEIKH ZAYED GRAND MOSQUE – THE LARGEST IN THE UAE

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is the most beautiful mosque in the UAE and is the largest in the nation. In here you can stroll along barefoot on the world’s largest knotted carpet below one of the largest crystal chandeliers on Earth. Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is named after the Founding Father of the UAE, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The mosque was Sheikh Zayed’s idea and he is buried within the courtyard of the mosque. There are free tours available hosted by local guides to allow people to learn more about the mosque and religion of Islam.
Please remember to dress MODESTLY as this is an Islamic place of worship. Abayas are provided free of charge.

LEARN MORE ABOUT THE FALCON: THE NATIONAL BIRD OF THE NATION

Falconry plays a key role in Arab history with its roots dating back to more than 2,000 years ago. The Falcon is the national bird of the UAE and is a symbol of force and courage, recognising the importance in Arab culture and tradition. The most popular species by hunters are the peregrine and saker falcons. The popularity of falcons has grown so much over the years that the UAE has opened the Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital (ADFH) which is the first institution in the UAE providing comprehensive veterinary health care services exclusively for falcons. You can tour the site with a guide and con even handle the courageous bird yourself. Falcons are the only birds in the UAE that are legally allowed to travel inside planes, but they are only allowed to travel in Business or First class where they can enjoy the height of luxury.

TAKE A TOUR AT QASR AL WATAN: THE PRESIDENTIAL PALACE OF THE EMIRATE OF ABU DHABI

Qasr Al Watan, translated into English as the “The Palace of the Nation” is the presidential palace of Abu Dhabi. Here, the Federal Supreme Council and the UAE Cabinet meet. The palace was open to the public by Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan (Ruler of Abu Dhabi and President of the United Arab Emirates) and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces) in 2019. The palace was open to the public on the 11th March 2019 in a ceremony hosted by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE as well as the Emir of the Emirate of Dubai).
The visitors of the palace can learn more about governance and formation of the UAE in the West wing. The Western wings has halls used for official purposes. There is a room called the “The Spirit of Collaboration” where the meetings of the UAE cabinet and Federal Supreme Council would be hosted as well as summits like the Arab League, Organisation of Islamic Conference and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The library has a boundless selection of historical resources and books. The East wing has the “House of Knowledge) where a number of artefacts and objects of great importance are stored. Visitors can also buy mementos from the palace on their website.
