3 BEAUTY HACKS (THAT ACTUALLY WORK)

Hey everyone welcome or welcome back to Maya’s Life and Travels. Beauty is something that I adore and that’s why I decided to do a beauty post today. In today’s post I share 3 beauty hacks (that actually work)! Alright, yallah let’s get started with these beauty hacks!

HACK 1: USE VASELINE AROUND YOUR NAILS TO CATCH ANY STRAY NAIL POLISH PAINT

Pat some Vaseline around your nail bed and then paint your nails like you normally do. Once the Nail Polish is dry, wash your hands and then any excess paint that hit the Vaseline will run right off your nail. This also works with lip balm, just repeat the same process.

HACK 2: USE VASELINE TO PREVENT THE CAP ON YOUR NAIL POLISH FROM DRYING AND DRYING SHUT

Apply some Vaseline onto the neck of the Nail Polish bottle and say bye bye to stuck caps!

HACK 3: MAKE YOUR LIPSTICK STAY LONGER BY PUTTING TISSUE ON LIPS

After applying lipstick on lips, place tissue paper on your lips and dust translucent powder on it. By doing this your lipstick lasts long and you also get a perfect matte finish! How good is that!

DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THESE BEAUTY HACKS BEFORE? IF YOU DIDN’T HAVE YOU TRIED THEM YET? I HOPE YOU FIND THESE HACKS HELPFUL. ALSO, DO YOU WANT A PART 2 OF THIS POST? I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU ALL IN THE COMMENTS AND IN THE FEEDBACK FORM. THANKS FOR READING AND SIGNING OFF FOR TODAY!

STOP ASIAN HATE

Hey everyone welcome or welcome back to Maya’s Life and Travels. Today I am discussing a serious world issue, asian hate. Anti – Asian hate has driven up and up and up since the beginning of the Coronavirus Pandemic. Lots of activists around the world have claimed that the huge amount of the hate crimes have risen due to the racist disgusting belief that Asian people are responsible for spreading the Coronavirus. As a result many Asian – owned business were vandalised and lots of restaurants and takeaway places have been boycotted. In the US there have been several, and I mean several, amounts of Asian hate crime with the most recent being the terrible Atlanta Shootings. Also, hate crime in the US were at the highest level in over a decade. An Asian man was walking with his one year old child in a stroller/buggy in San Francisco and was punched in the back and the head multiple times. Also, saldy an 89 year old Chinese woman was slapped and set on fire by two people in Brooklyn in NYC (New York City). Hate is a virus and here are 3 ways you can stand up and #StopAsianHate. Alright, yallah let’s get started with this important post!

SHARE ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND CREATE A BLOG POST ABOUT WHAT IS ASIAN HATE AND HOW TO STOP IT

Share about the campaign #stopasianhate on social media such as Instagram and Twitter. Also, if you have a blog, I challenge you to pingback this post I wrote or link my post  and create your own version of the this post for your readers with ways you can #StopAsianHate.

DONATE

If you are able to, there are organisations that you can donate to stop Asian Hate and to keep the Asian community safe and secure. You can report a hate incident of Asian Hate on the Stop AAPI Hate website here (you can fill out the form in 11 languages and more will be on the way!) and you can also make donations to them by clicking this link here. You can also donate to Asian Hall of Fame, which is a world leading organisation of Asian Recognition and fosters all year round support to elevate Asian contributions in the national narrative. This year, they are devoting their entire 2021 season to the Stop Asian Hate campaign. Their goal is to raise $250,000 dollars and will be matched up by the Robert Chinn Foundation. You can donate to the Asian Hall of Fame by clicking this link here. Also, if you want more options of organisations to donate to read here.

SPEAK UP AND SPEAK THE TRUTH!

Speak up and speak the truth and stop the spread of disgusting harmful lies! Speak the truth that everyone knows, Asian people are not responsible for the virus. Again, spread awareness on social media and speak to people around you like your friends and family.

PLEASE SPEAK UP AND #STOPASIANHATE. ASIAN PEOPLE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE VIRUS. ARE YOU GOING TO WRITE A BLOG POST ABOUT STOP ASIAN HATE? DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THESE ORGANISATIONS TO DONATE TO? I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR WHAT ALL OF YOU THOUGHT OF THIS POST IN THE COMMENTS AND IN THE FEEDBACK FORM. SIGNING OFF FOR TODAY AND THANKS AGAIN FOR READING.

SEVEN EMIRATES: A POEM

Hi everyone welcome or welcome back to Maya’s Life and Travels. I love writing poems and poetry and I haven’t shared any poems on my blog so far so I decided that on today’s post I would share a poem that I have wrote recently called “Seven Emirates” The uae is one of my favourite places in the world so that was the main motivation behind this poem. Alright y3ni yallah let’s get started

I wake up and see the flag of a nation right in front of me,

With colours Red, Green, Black and White,

Look, there are seven emirates that I see,

Can you name them,

Oh yeah you can, let’s see!

Dubai is amazing and is the place to be,

Abu Dhabi is the capital city and is the home for me,

And there is Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain and Sharjah

There are all different,

But they are one and the same,

Unified by Sheikh Zayed,

Unified for once and for all,

Every single Emirati, Camel and Falcon and all,

The UAE is the place to be,

For little old me

The UAE is the guardian of the nation’s dream

The UAE, Oh you are the land for me,

You are the land of my heart and dreams,

Ana Uhhibuk Ya UAE!

I HOPE YOU LIKE MY POEM! I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR YOUR THOUGHTS OF THE POEM IN THE COMMENTS SECTION AND IN THE FEEDBACK FORM! THANKS FOR READING AND SIGNING OFF FOR TODAY EVERYONE

3 THINGS I LOVE ABOUT RAMADAN FT HIDDENZZZ

Hey everyone! Today is the 20th of Ramadan and is now the last 10 days of the holy month. Ramadan has flown by so quickly this year, I don’t know where all the days went. This post is a collab with hiddenzzz from hiddenzzzblog. I just discovered her blog recently and she is so nice so check out her blog here. Also, check her part of the collab of 3 things she loves about Ramadan here. Alright, yallah let’s get onto this collab post.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic Lunar Calendar. During this very holy month, Muslims give their devotion to Allah (God) and are required to submit to Allah through fasting. Muslims don’t eat or drink from dawn to sunset. Before they fast, they have a meal in the early morning before dawn called Suhoor and when they break their fast they have a meal called Iftar. We are required to stop eating before Fajr (the first prayer of the day). After we break our fast we are supposed to pray the last prayer of the day called Isha. AFter Isha we are required to pray the Taraweeh prayer but its only during Ramadan and is not obligatory but is Sunnah to do so. Taraweeh is usually performed at the Mosque but due to coronavirus, it can be done at home. We can fast in Muharram (the first month of the Islamic Lunar Calendar) but fasting is more important in Ramadan as it allows us Muslims to come closer to Allah and devote our faith to Him. Ramadan is also a time for prayer, spiritual reflection, doing good deeds and spending time with family and friends. We are now entering the last 10 days of Ramadan and is beloved that on one of the odd nights of the last 10 days of Ramadan Laylatul Qadr (The Night Of Power) will come. Laylatul Qadr is one of the most sacred nights in the Islamic Calendar and on this night the Quran was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) .

EID AL FITR

Eid is one of my favourite things when it comes to Ramadan. Eid Al Fitr is a holiday that marks the end of Ramadan. Eid Al Fitr begins with the first sighting of a new moon at the beginning of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic Calendar. In Arabic, Eid Al Fitr means “the feast of the breaking of the fast”. In my family on the first day of Eid we go to the eid prayer at the mosque and then we have a huge feast. After that, we would then exchange our presents or money and then we get our own presents.

IFTAR TREATS

There are so many amazing treats at Iftar every night and I love them so much. All of my favourite foods and desserts are on the table such as Mahalabiya (Arabic Rice Pudding) and Halloumi (Cheese). Iftar is one of my favourite parts of the day in Ramadan.

THE NIGHTS

Everything is awake at night. From malls to shops to restaurants. Everything lights up and all the crowds are full of energy. Its so fun to stay up with siblings! love the Ramadan nights because they are so enjoyable.

MAKE SURE TO CHECK OUT HIDDENZZ’S BLOG WITH HER PART OF THE COLLAB OF 3 THINGS SHE LOVES ABOUT RAMADAN. WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT RAMADAN? I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM ALL OF YOU IN THE COMMENTS AND IN THE FEEDBACK FORM. THANKS FOR READING THIS POST. SIGNING OFF FOR TODAY

SEARCHING THROUGH PINTEREST EPISODE #2 | BEAUTIFUL ILLUSTRATIONS

Hi welcome or welcome back to Maya’s Life and Travels. Today I am bringing you episode 2 of the searching through Pinterest series so if you haven’t checked out episode 1 check it out here. I love all the beautiful illustrations on Pinterest and there are so many beautiful pins. Before we get started, please follow my Pinterest account, you are sure to find some lovely pins I have created, uploaded from the photos I take on my phone and save. Follow by clicking this link here. Alright, yallah let’s get started.

I just love this one, the two girls look so beautiful and the colours used are amazing. Twin vibes.

Alright now this is beautiful! I love the girl and all the colours used. I love the contrasting colours of white and orange. It makes the illustration look even more beautiful!

Now this is Girl power! I just love this one.

This is one of my favourites! Its showing feminism with 3 hijabis and states the important message saying “your body, your rules”. It also showing that you can wear whatever you want. The power of choice in today’s society can shatter all the mean stereotypes made towards us.

This is an amazing portrait illustration. It celebrates the beautiful diversity we have as women and girls whether we are arab, black or white we are all together and united as women and girls.

This one stuck my eye because I literally have similar trainers like the girl in the illustration. (I have Air Max ones).

And before I forget I created a Pinterest board of beautiful illustrations so check it out here:

NEW EPISODE IN THE SERIES COMING SOON!!! STAY TUNED! WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS POST AND WHAT POST DO YOU WANT NEXT IN THE PINTEREST SERIES? DO YOU LIKE THESE ILLUSTRATIONS? CAN’T WAIT TO HEAR FROM YOU ALL IN THE COMMENTS AND IN THE FEEDBACK FORM. TYSM FOR READING.

Some of the lyrics translated from Arabic into English

The glory of the homeland and the name of the homeland depends on your highness O, the One, the Most Gracious, the Friendly, the One …

The pulse of the nation is the heart of the nation. We have a soul and a body … Bu Khaled and your love in our hearts have no limits …

Oh gainer, the praise is for you, the world of friendliness is unique … And you in the Supreme Sama are high, and you have steadfastness on the Baida …

I excluded the limit of boiler and generosity, O pride of the country … O Muhammad, the majestic one, on the Russians, the peaks want to climb …

And your name is above the throne of glory, O elder, and ascended … Above the chandeliers, O Muhammad, above and your actions are witnesses …

Add a number and multiply a number, but there is no number … Enough to enumerate them for your actions with a supply …

You are proud of a federal state and a united people … Rest from the comfort of the souls of the people in this existence …

Allah (God) knows how your eyes are bored of the shade … Watch for the security of the homeland and the people, the ancestors …

No Hunt Abu Khaled takes into account the fat and the face of happiness … Rare chains, and from your presence over your people …

One of my role models is Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum because he has made Dubai that we have today out of literally a small trading outpost to a worldwide tourist destination (that has broken millions of world records) and one of the world’s most iconic cities. He is also my because he has also founded initiatives that really make an impact on the world such as Dubai Cares which was founded to break the cycle of poverty by ensuring all children have access to quality education and  he has also launched the Arab Hope Makers initiative as part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Global Initiatives (MBRGI) to honour individuals and institutions that improve their communities that they live in and and make a positive impact on the lives of people through projects, programmes and humanitarian initiatives.

I will have supported the blades which crossed my body and which make my tears flow I will have supported the bullets, dissociate the good from the evil, the eyes covered the veil But I’m not in your soul I saw many waves and doors that fade So I had to break the vase, which cut your mind

MOHAMED RAMADAN AND GIMS YA HABIBI

4. NOUR EL EIN BY AMR DIAB

حبيبي يا نور العين يا ساكن خيالي

عاشق بقالي سنين ولا غيرك في بالي

حبيبي يا نور العين يا ساكن خيالي

عاشق بقالي سنين ولا غيرك في بالي

English lyrics for first verse:

My love, light of my eyes, inhabitant of my imagination

I’ve been in love for years, only thinking of you

My love, light of my eyes, inhabitant of my imagination

I’ve been in love for years, only thinking of you

The United Arab Emirates was founded on the 2nd December 1971 and was no longer known as the Trucial States. National Day in the UAE is celebrated every year on the 2nd December and this holiday celebrates the culture and history of the UAE. But, how was the UAE actually founded and who was theContinue reading “WHO WAS SHEIKH ZAYED: THE FOUNDING FATHER OF THE UAE AND THE MAN THE BROUGHT THE NATION TOGETHER AS ONE”

NATIONAL SYMBOLS OF THE UAE

On the 2nd December 1971, seven sheikdoms were brought together and formed the UAE. Before the sheikdoms were unified sheikdoms (Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm al Quwain, Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Fujairah and Dubai) were under the control of the British and were known as the Trucial States. The British made a decision to withdraw itsContinue reading “NATIONAL SYMBOLS OF THE UAE”

3 OF THE MOST INTERESTING FACTS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE UAE

The UAE is a really small country but there is so much history to it. People usually focus on the recent growth of the UAE and how it became a worldwide travel destination but the country has been home to a plethora of fascinating traditions for thousands of years. Here are 3 the most interesting facts you need to know about the UAE.

THERE IS MORE THAN ONE RULING FAMILY IN THE UAE

The UAE has more than one ruling family. I am not talking about one or two royal families, I am talking about seven. Yes there are seven! Each Emirate of the UAE is ruled by a different royal family, with the Al Maktoum family of Dubai and Al Nahyan family of Abu Dhabi being the most powerful and the most famous. The ruling families of the UAE are the Al Maktoum royal family of Dubai, Al Nahyan family of Abu Dhabi, Al Qasimi family of Ras Al Khaimah (RAK), Al Qasimi family of Sharjah, Al Sharqi family of Fujairah, Al Nuaimi family of Ajman and the Al Mualla family of Umm Al Quwain (UAQ).

THE UAE IS MADE UP OF SEVEN EMIRATES

The UAE is made up of seven emirates that were historically known as the Trucial States. Each of the emirates have different cultures, rulers, rules dialects and traditions. Before the UAE was founded on December 2nd 1971 the UAE was known as Al Sahil Al Muhadin (The Trucial States) and was under control of Great Britain. But it was only on the UAE National Day (2nd December 1971) that the seven sheikhdoms came together and became the UAE with Sheikh Zayed as the Union’s first President.

CAMELS ARE AN IMPORTANT PART OF UAE CULTURE

Camels are an essential part of the Emirati tradition and culture of the nation and have been for years upon years. Camel Racing is by far the UAE’s most loved sport! Camels also have a beauty pageant! No visit to the UAE isn’t complete without learning about the UAE’s most beloved animal, the camel.

DID YOU KNOW THESE FACTS BEFORE? I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM ALL OF YOU IN THE COMMENTS AND IN THE FEEDBACK FORM. THANKS FOR READING!

HOW TO CHOOSE A BLOG NAME

When I started my blog, the blog name was one thing that came into my head in the space of seconds. But, when you start a blog you might get stuck choosing the right blog name. Finding a name that is the right one for you can take time. However, there are so many ideas out there to help you. I remember when I started my blog and inputted my blog name that there were no domains with the name “Maya’s Life and Travels” so I was lucky but as time goes by and you haven’t chosen your blog name domains can be taken. If you are stuck on what to name your blog, don’t worry because there are other people in the same boat as you. In today’s post on the blog, I share how to choose your blog name and I also give you some creative blog name ideas that you can use for your blog. Before we get into the post and get started, I just wanted to say that I have created a YouTube channel for my blog so please check out using this link here.

The first key step in choosing a name for your blog is choosing the niche. Would your niche be travel, like mine? Or will it be beauty? Or fashion? Your blog name will need to relate to the chosen niche for your blog. My blog name is Maya’s Life and Travels because my two niches for my blog are Travel and Lifestyle.

Here are some blog niches for you to choose out of (maybe do a google search if these are not the right one for you, there are more niches out there on the internet and you might find one you like!) :

LifestyleHomeParentingBlogging
TravelDIYRelationshipFood
FaishonBusinessPersonal FinanceHealth
ParentingMarriageHome DecorFilm

Now that you have the niche down you need to start brainstorming words that you will include in the blog name. For example, if you choose travel like I have write down words on a piece of paper or a word document such as journey, voyage, tour, trek and trip etc. Or, if you choose Fashion write down words on that piece of paper or document such as chic, glam, dress, style, stylish, dress, trousers, waistcoat, outfit, design and look etc. I have created a little brainstorming help sheet with some words that describe 3 popular niches for bloggers so feel free to refer to it below.

When it comes to writing, I love mixing and matching words. Now that you have a list of words and have done the brainstorming process, you need to start mixing and matching them to choose your blog name. But now, you need to come up with another list of blog names to choose from to get the right one for you. Usually, blog names are more than one word. When I choose my blog name, I added the word “and” in the middle. You can add words in the middle or the end such as “the”, “and”, “to” and with. Using your own name or pseudonym makes the blog name feel more unique and personal to you like my blog name is “Maya’s Life and Travels”. You can also use your own name if you are struggling for ideas.

Once you have the right blog name or potential list of blog names you need to check if it is available. You have to check if it is used by someone else already. To do this go to https://wordpress.com/new/domains-modal and enter your domain (www.yourblogname.com) in the search bar.

After you input your domain name, you then need to select a selection. If you want a free blog the end of the domain would be (www.yourblogname.wordpress.com when it is a free plan wordpress.com is at the end of the url instead of .com) and if you want the domain name to be (www.yourblogname.com) you have to pay but the first year is free included in paid plans.

When you search up your blog name and if http://www.yourblogname.wordpress.com is not there that means it is taken already by someone. If you domain is available get it as soon as you can because before you know it, it can be taken.

I HOPE YOU FIND THIS HELPFUL. I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR WHAT ALL OF YOU THINK OF THIS POST IN THE FEEDBACK FORM AND IN THE COMMENTS.

3 OF THE BEST HISTORICAL SIGHTS TO VISIT IN THE UAE

The UAE is full to the brim with historical sights and there are more than you can imagine. Before all the skyscrapers and luxury cars like Ferrari’s and Lamborghini’s appeared life was simple in The Emirates.  In today’s post I share 3 of the best historical sights to to visit to learn more about the UAE. Before we get into it, I just want to say that I just created a blog YouTube channel so make sure to subscribe here.

AL JAZIRAH AL HAMRA

Al Jazirah Al Hamra is the last authentic town in the nation. Built by three local tribes and ruled by the Al Zaab tribe in the 14th century, Al Jazirah Al Hamra was originally inhabited by around two hundred fishermen and pearl divers but in the 20th century its inhabitants grew more. It’s name translated into English it means “The Red Land”. Then something happened and all the inhabitants left, some say because of supernatural forces and others say they moved for a better life. Today, it is known as The Ghost Town. Furniture is still left behind, abandoned and it is literally empty. Rumour has it that it is haunted by the jinns and some people say they hear disembodied voices and strange noises near the beach of the village. The Emirati’s recite a plethora of scary stories that the jinns have encountered the village including tons of stories about people who have very sadly encountered them and then gradually over time became insane. They even keep their distance from this haunted village even in the daylight. Some visitors have witnessed paranormal things and have seen handprints on the ruined pillars and walls..

AL BADIYAH MOSQUE

Masjid Al Bidyah, translated into English as Al Bidyah mosque, is the oldest mosque in the nation located in the emirate of Fujairah. The date of construction of the mosque is uncertain because the mud and stone structure uses no wood and that’s why radiocarbon dating is not available. However, it is estimated to date back to the 15th century.

AL FAHIDI HISTORICAL NEIGHBOURHOOD

Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood ( also known as Al Bastakiya) is a crucial part in the heritage of the United Arab Emirates and now it is full of museums and galleries. The construction of Al Bastakiya dates back to the 1890s. The buildings here are made of coral, mud, gypsum and palm wood which were building materials at the time. The area is home to the Coffee Museum, Alserkal Cultural Foundation, Mawaheb Gallery, Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding, XVA Gallery, Arabian Tea House Cafe and Make Art Gallery.

HAVE YOU BEEN TO THESE 3 HISTORICAL PLACES BEFORE? WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THESE HISTORICAL PLACES? ARE YOU SCARED ABOUT AL JAZIRAH AL HAMRA? I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM  ALL OF YOU IN THE COMMENTS AND IN THE FEEDBACK FORM.

3 PLACES YOU HAVE TO VISIT THROUGHOUT THE EMIRATES TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE UAE

It’s a new year so why not visit new places instead of the same tourist attractions. The UAE has lots to offer. There are lots of places to explore around the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates and you are sure to be entertained. In today’s post I share 3 places you have to visit to learn more about the UAE. Before we get into it, I just want to say that I just created a blog YouTube channel so make sure to subscribe here.

RAS AL KHAIMAH: AL QASIMI PALACE

Al Qasr Al Gamedh, (Al Qasimi Palace) was closed a year ago in April 2020 for huge renovations but I really wanted to include it, I’m sorry! The Al Qasimi palace in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) has a huge reputation for being a scary place. But, with a very good reason (the place is haunted, I am not lying!). Built by the late Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Qasimi in 1985 for a reported 500,00 Dirhams the place has fell into huge disrepair for being unoccupied for years upon years. The inhabitants of the palace abandoned it in ONE NIGHT more than 20 years ago because they were being tormented by mischievous occurrences (and I mean mischievous) such as faces appearing at the windows and furniture being thrown around. Some people are claiming that they have seen faces of children peeking through the windows. (The watchmen said that they heard children laughing!) Some people say that the watchmen behave like ghosts…

ABU DHABI: QASR AL WATAN

Qasr Al Watan, translated into English as the “The Palace of the Nation” is the presidential palace of Abu Dhabi. Here, the Federal Supreme Council and the UAE Cabinet meet. The palace was open to the public by Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan (Ruler of Abu Dhabi and President of the United Arab Emirates) and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces) in 2019. The palace was open to the public on the 11th March 2019 in a ceremony hosted by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE as well as the Emir of the Emirate of Dubai).

The visitors of the palace can learn more about governance and formation of the UAE in the West wing. The Western wings has halls used for official purposes. There is a room called the “The Spirit of Collaboration” where the meetings of the UAE cabinet and Federal Supreme Council would be hosted as well as summits like the Arab League, Organisation of Islamic Conference and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The library has a boundless selection of historical resources and books. The East wing has the “House of Knowledge) where a number of artefacts and objects of great importance are stored.

RAS AL KHAIMAH – AL JAZIRA AL HAMRA

Al Jazirah Al Hamra is the last authentic town in the nation. Built by three local tribes and ruled by the Al Zaab tribe in the 14th century, Al Jazirah Al Hamra was originally inhabited by around two hundred fishermen and pearl divers but in the 20th century its inhabitants grew more. It’s name translated into English it means “The Red Land”. Then something happened and all the inhabitants left, some say because of supernatural forces and others say they moved for a better life. They even keep their distance from this haunted village even in the daylight. Some visitors have witnessed paranormal things and have seen handprints on the ruined pillars and walls…

OUTSTANDING ORIGINAL BLOGGER AWARD

Hey welcome or welcome back to Maya’s Life and Travels. I have been nominated for the Outstanding Blogger Award by Hreem from Chic Life Thru My Lens, go check her blog because she is an amazing blogger and you will definitely enjoy her blog. Before we get started, I wanted to say that I created a Youtube Channel so check it out here, make sure to subscribe.

RULES:

  • Provide the link to the creator’s original award post (Colton Beckwith RPC)
  • Answer the questions provided
  • Create 7 unique questions
  • Nominate 10 bloggers. Ensure that they are aware of their nomination. Neither the award’s creator nor the blogger that nominated you can be nominated.
  • At the end of 2021, every blog that ping-backs the creator’s original post will be entered to win the 2021 Outstanding Blogger award.

QUESTIONS:

1. WHO IS YOUR BIGGEST INSPIRATION AND WHY?

My biggest inspiration is Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum because he has made Dubai that we have today out of literally a small trading outpost to a worldwide tourist destination (that has broken millions of world records) and one of the world’s most iconic cities. I also find him inspirational because he has also founded initiatives that really make an impact on the world such as Dubai Cares which was founded to break the cycle of poverty by ensuring all children have access to quality education and  he has also launched the Arab Hope Makers initiative as part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Global Initiatives (MBRGI) to honour individuals and institutions that improve their communities that they live in and and make a positive impact on the lives of people through projects, programmes and humanitarian initiatives.

2. WHAT IS ONE THING YOU CAN NOT LIVE WITHOUT?

I can not live without my senses because I have lost my taste and smell before and it was a nightmare because I couldn’t taste or smell anything but thankfully they are back Without the ability to see with our eyes, hear with our ears, touch with our hands, smell with our noses and move with our legs our life would not even be the same. Without the ability to smell and taste was super hard for me because I love eating and I couldn’t taste my favourite foods.

3. IF YOU COULD RELIVE ONE YEAR OF YOUR LIFE WHICH YEAR WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

I would relive the year 2019 because before coronavirus the year was going really well and I had so much fun in that year.

4. WOULD YOU WANT TO SEE THE FUTURE OR TO SEE ANYTHING THAT HAPPENED IN THE PAST?

I would see the future because I could see if all my predictions are correct about the future and get to to know what would happen. I would also see the future because the past doesn’t exist and it is not a place you can visit if you only know the path because it is a memory and it has happened.

5. WHY DID YOU START BLOGGING

I started blogging because I have always been passionate about writing and I love to write. Whether I am writing stories or poems I would sit there for hours and wouldn’t take the pen of the page or stop typing on the keyboard.

6. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT BLOGGING?

My favourite thing about blogging is reading the feedback and comments I get from my readers because it really brightens my day and it tells me that they enjoy my content.

7. WHAT ARE THREE THINGS YOU ARE GRATEFUL FOR FROM THIS PAST YEAR?

1. Technology – I am grateful for technology because it has enabled us to keep in touch with our friends and loved ones throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

2. Access to healthcare and hospitals – I am grateful that I have the  access to healthcare and hospitals because some people around this world have no access to healthcare and they could contract the virus without them knowing and then sadly they could become really critical and they can’t go to hospital because they aren’t any.

3. Friends and Family

MY QUESTIONS

  • If you could relive one day of your life what would it be and why?
  • If you were given $1,000,000 and you had to spend it right now, what would you spend it on and why?
  • What is your dream destination and why?
  • What are you looking forward to this year and why?
  • If you had the chance to live somewhere else in the world where would it be?
  • If you had the chance to swap lifestyles with someone who would it be?

I NOMINATE:

IMPORTANT THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE TRAVELING TO THE UAE

The United Arab Emirates is a must visit country on any travellers bucket list, the UAE is vibrant, cultural, flashy, rich, amazing, glamorous. You are sure to enjoy your time in the Emirates! If you are planning to visit the UAE anytime soon here are some important things you should know before travelling to the UAE

The weekend’s in the UAE are Friday and Saturday, you might be wondering wait why but the Muslim world observes the weekend on different days. Sunday is a working day and children go to school on that day because in the UAE Sunday is observed as a start of a new week. Malls and restaurants will be open later on the weekend rather than other days. The malls will be busy though as lots of people will be visiting so make sure you plan your visit accordingly.

The UAE is a Muslim country which means you have to dress modestly and follow the dress code in public areas and in mosques. In public places you should dress without showing too much of your body. Don’t wear skirts or shorts that are too short or clothes that are see through.

Never take photos of people without permission unless you are taking a photo or video in a touristy area such as the fountains at Burj Khalifa. However, taking photos without someone’s consent can is strictly prohibited and is an invasion of the person’s privacy and is punishable by a fine of 500,000 Dirhams and imprisonment.

The UAE can be pretty toasty so the best time to visit is between October and April. If you want to visit a beach visit between these months because the weather is not as hot and you will still be able to enjoy yourself without the worry of extreme heat on your head. There is a spike in tourism in these months especially so it is best to plan your visit in advance.

If you visit the country during the holy month of Ramadan, celebrated on the ninth month of the Islamic Lunar Calendar, respect the practise of fasting and the Muslims. In this month, you can not eat, drink or smoke in public but you CAN eat in designated areas. Avoid any offensive behavior as Ramadan is the time for reflection.

Hotels may serve limited food in designated areas. Supermarkets will stay open to buy food and drink but consume in private away from other people. In Ramadan, you may spot cordoned off tents where food and water may be consumed. In addition, attractions may have reduced hours. For all you shopping lovers, like me!, there are huge and I mean huge Ramadan sales!!

(IMPORTANT: Showing Public Display of Affection is not allowed in the UAE)

LEARN MORE ABOUT THE FALCON: THE NATIONAL BIRD OF THE NATION

Falconry plays a key role in Arab history with its roots dating back to more than 2,000 years ago. The Falcon is the national bird of the UAE and is a symbol of force and courage, recognising the importance in Arab culture and tradition. The most popular species by hunters are the peregrine and saker falcons. The popularity of falcons has grown so much over the years that the UAE has opened the Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital (ADFH) which is the first institution in the UAE providing comprehensive veterinary health care services exclusively for falcons. You can tour the site with a guide and con even handle the courageous bird yourself. Falcons are the only birds in the UAE that are legally allowed to travel inside planes, but they are only allowed to travel in Business or First class where they can enjoy the height of luxury.
