Fashion inspiration episode #1 | abayas

Hey everyone welcome or welcome back to Maya’s Life and Travels. I really love using Pinterest to get fashion inspiration, especially with abayas so I thought I should create a new series about it. So introducing fashion inspiration from Pinterest where I share some fashion inspiration from Pinterest where I share some inspiration based on different things eg bags, abayas, shoes, blouses etc. Pinterest is great in terms of abayas because it shows you certain types of abayas and what goes well with it for example what shoes are meant for it, what bag etc. This is episode 1 of the series and there will be more episodes of the series. Alright, let’s get started! All images are from Pinterest

I really love these abayas especially the purple one because even though they have no design one them they still look really pretty and elegant.

This abaya looks amazing! I love the sleeves and the pearls on it because it makes the abaya even more pretty than it is already.

I love the colour on this abaya and the ruffles on it. The colour is not too dark or too light it is in between. This abaya would look nice with a small bag without the chain as well.

I love the abaya because I generally like baby blue abayas because they remind me of the sky. I love the bottom of the abaya as well. This abaya will also look like with a white maxi dress or with white trousers etc. You can also match the hijab with the abaya or put a white one it because it looks really nice in the photo.

October monthly moodboard♡

Hey everyone, welcome or welcome back to Maya’s Life and Travels. One thing I like to do is create moodboards and I really like making them. In August, I started a monthly moodboard series where I create a moodboard for each month and this month I will be doing one for october. Alright, let’s get started.

My aim for this mood board was to associate connotations I have between the month of October and Fall. I thought of things I associated with the two and added it to my moodboard. Here is what I created for this month’s moodboard:

Searching through Pinterest episode #4 | abayas

Hi everyone, welcome or welcome back to Maya’s Life and Travels. I have taken a break from blogging because I really wanted to focus on my school and recently I have been getting lots of homework so I also wanted to focus on that. But, today on the blog I am bringing you episode 4 of the searching through pinterest series so if you haven’t checked out the previous episode feel free to check it out here. Its been 3 months since the last post of the series, I really love doing this series so I want to post more searching through pinterest posts. This time I am looking at abayas. I love scrolling through the internet for abayas and I want to expand my abaya collection so let’s get started! Disclaimer: All images are sourced from Pinterest and are not my images.

Okay this abaya is so pretty! I really love frilly abayas and frilly dresses so this is an amazing abaya for me. The colour is so beautiful as well! And what can I say about the sleeves, they are so pretty!

Wow this abaya is amazing as well! What I really like about this abaya is that it looks really feminine and its chiffon as well. The sleeves are nice as well! Additionally, I really like that the abaya looks really good with a cute small bag as well.

latest abay designs -dubai abaya - modern abayas

This abaya is amazing. The embroidery is really nice as well!!

I really love this abaya because it looks really nice with the white colour and the sequins. This abaya looks really classy and elegant as well! I would definitely pair this abaya with a small bag like the women in the photo as it really suits the abaya.

These abayas are so pretty and are totally my style of clothing! I love both of them and they look ever so nice! I would definitely by both of them! Love the ruffles on the purple one and I love the gold colour on the other one! Both these abayas would look really nice with a necklace and an elegant watch with some flats or heels.

Shopping Haul ♡

Hey everyone, welcome or welcome back to Maya’s Life and Travels. I took an unexpected blogging break because I was really busy and I am now back with another fresh new post! I went and bought some things recently I really wanted to share a few of the things I brought with you guys. Alright, let’s get started!

So, I went to the Dior store a while back and I wanted to get something. There was a sale that time and I saw the Miss Dior Rose N Roses Roller Pearl and I really fell in love because of how cute it is. The Rose N Roses Roller Pearl has white musk in it which is a fragrance I love so much so that’s another reason why I love it to so much! I really love the Dior Rose N Roses perfume and I so happy that Dior made a smaller roleable version of it! In addition, I also love the bottle design especially the topper as it is so elegant and so cute!

I was in Gold Souk a couple of weeks ago and I wanted to buy a perfume so I went to Khadlaj Perfumes which is a perfume shop I usually go to and I brought Shiyaaka. Shiyaaka is an amazing long lasting perfume. The packaging is really beautiful and I love the scent because its floral and musky which is the best of both worlds. Overall, I love the Shiyakka perfume and it is now one of my favourites out of my collection.

I always loved Marie from the Aristocats when I was little and I went to Miniso to get a few things. I brought a Marie glass cup and mask because they looked really cute. Both of them are printed with Marie’s face on it which is ever so adorable!

I loved all the products I bought and I would highly recommend them! Let me know your favorite one out of all of them! I just wanted to say thank you so much for reading I am extremely grateful to all my readers! Signing off for today and see you in the next post!♡

A trip to Etihad Museum ♡

Hey everyone, welcome or welcome back to Maya’s Life and Travels. Sorry I haven’t posted in a while I have just been really busy and didn’t have time to write or post anything. The other day I went to Etihad Museum in Dubai and I really wanted to share some of my highlights from the museum with you guys! The Etihad Museum holds everything from personal artefacts and old passports of the rulers of the UAE. The historic signing of the Constitution of United Arab Emirates, the raising of the nation’s first ever flag and the formation of the United Arab Emirates as an actual country on the 2nd December 1971 (after declaring independence from Great Britain) took place where the museum is today. In this post I am going to share how much it is to go to the museum, opening hours, some of the key highlights of the museum and some fabulous pictures! Alright, let’s get started!

  • Adults – 25 AED (Dirhams)
  • Groups of 10 or more – 20 AED (per ticket)
  • Students (5 – 24) – 10 AED
  • Free for children under 5 and people of determination
  • Open daily 10am – 8pm
  • Last entry: 7pm
  • Guided tours: 12pm – 5pm

The Etihad Museum showcases the belongings of the Founding Fathers of the Seven Emirates of the UAE. It showcases some of their personal belongings such as their watches, kandooras, gold coins, copies of the Holy Quran, glasses, guns and much more. As well as giving us an insight of their belongings the museum also gives us an introduction to each ruler as well. In addition, we also get an insight of the founding father’s family trees and amazing video clips and special pictures!

These photos in the museum showcase the early years of the UAE, how it was before unification, the challenges the founding fathers faced, the stories of the union and it also shares a light on major events that happened during the founding of the UAE. Some examples of this are in the 4th picture where the UAE flag was raised for the first time when the union was founded.

The museum showcases some amazing famous quotes of the founding fathers which are displayed on the sides of the museum. The calligraphy is by Wissam Shawkat.

From the outside of the museum you can see the Union House which is the building the UAE was founding in on the 2nd December 1971. The union house is where the UAE’s first flag was raised in 1971 to mark the formation of the union. The constitution of the UAE was signed in this building by the Founding Fathers of the UAE. A copy of the constitution is available at the Etihad Museum.

Lots of the photos in the Etihad museum depict the history of the UAE, the culture and the religion of the UAE.

In 1968, the British made a decision that it would withdraw its involvement in the Trucial States. On February 18, 1968, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Ruler of Abu Dhabi, and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai met in the desert in a tent (traditional Bedu – style) and made a decision to found a union. Sheikh Rashid ordered Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to come back to the UAE from England to arrange the important meeting in the desert so no one could see. Following his fathers advice, Sheikh Mohammed pitched 2 tents for the meeting away from the evil eyes of people. Sheikh Zayed wanted Sheikh Rashid to be the President of the Union but he insisted that Sheikh Zayed to be the President of the Union. The meeting took place in Arqoob Al Sederah which is between the Emirates of Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The dream of the Union then became reality 3 years later when six of the seven emirates (RAK, Ras Al Khaimah, decided to join the UAE later) to become an independent country called the United Arab Emirates.

Have you ever been to Etihad Museum or do you plan to go? What is your favourite place in the museum from this post? Thank you so much for reading and signing off for today!

My Shein wishlist♡

Hello everyone, welcome or welcome back to Maya’s Life and Travels. I was looking at stationery on Shein today and I created a wishlist for the new school year. Shein has some amazing stationery which is ever so unique! I am going to buy my main back to school stationery from other shops of course but I also wanted to get some stuff off Shein and I really wanted to share my wishlist with you guys so let’s get started with this post!

1. Plaid Pattern Pencil bag

Plaid Pattern Pencil Bag

I really love this pencil bag because it can fit a lot of stuff into one small pencil case. The reason why I put this as item 1 on my wishlist is the fact that I can fit things into all in my place because currently I have to have multiple pencil cases for my markers, colouring pencils and washi tapes etc.

2. 3pcs Sequin Ballpoint Pen

3pcs Sequin Decor Ballpoint Pen

I added these to my wishlist because they are just sooo adorable and sparkly! Another reason why I added them to my wishlist is because they are a 3pcs set and it is a lot better to buy 3 of them in one set then buying them individually, it also works out a lot cheaper.

3. 1pc Random cartoon binder memo pad

1pc Random Cartoon Binder Ring Memo Pad

These memo pads are adorable! I might not get these but I added them because memo pads are really useful.

4. Bubble tea shaped pencil bag

1pc Bubble Tea Shaped Pencil Bag

I was watching Study to Success‘ new stationery video she published 2 weeks ago and this pencil bag was in their and I was like “I need that” so I went online to find it and I found it on Shein which is so weird. It looks so good on her desk and I do need this on my desk so I thought “Why not add it to the list”!

5. 60 sheets Mixed Pattern Material Paper

60sheets Mixed Pattern Random Material Paper

I saw a lot of bullet journalers on YouTube with material paper and I currently don’t have any so that’s why I want them!

6. 1pc clear stationery storage box

1pc Clear Stationery Storage Box

My stationery isn’t really organised and I always wanted an organiser for all of it and I came across this and I absolutely love it!

7. 1pc Galaxy pattern Cover random spiral notebook

1pc Galaxy Pattern Cover Random Spiral Notebook

Oh what can I say about this notebook it is so pretty and aesthetic. When I saw this notebook I was like I had to get it! My favourite colour is the pink one out of all of them.

8. Cat paw correction tape

1pc Cat Paw Random Correction Tape

I have been watching tons of stationery videos on YouTube in the past month and literally all of them include correction tape. I kind of hate crossing out stuff because it doesn’t make work look nice but with correction tape you can correct it and then write on top which is great!

9. Flower print washi tape

10rolls Flower Print Washi Tape

These washi tapes are so pretty and I really want them!

10. Cartoon metal bookmark

1pc Random Cartoon Metal Bookmark

I wanted a bookmark for school so I went on Shein and found these adorable bookmarks! I have never had a metal bookmark before because I always opted for paper ones. However, this time I wanted to give a metal one a try!

What are your favourite items in my Shein Wishlist and why? Have you ever brought stationery from Shein before? Thank you so much for reading and signing off for today!

Ice cream contains lots of nutrients in it as well such as riboflavin, vitamin D and A and calcium. I love strawberry ice cream the most and it’s my go to flavour.

I absolutely love milkshakes! Milkshakes are my go to summer dessert especially after eating a burger. There are so much amazing milkshake flavours out there to try so go get out there and try them! What is your favourite milkshake flavour?

Ice cream sundaes are such an amazing dessert to eat in the summer. Banana split is my favourite sundae and it is absolutely amazing. Nothing beats an amazing yummy sundae in the heat! I don’t really have sundae’s a lot because I usually just get ice cream but I am planning to eat more ice cream this summer!

I hope you enjoyed this post and let me know if you want a part 2 of yummy desserts that are perfect to eat in summer! Let me know in the comments below your favourite dessert to eat in summer and why. Thanks for reading and signing off for today!

What is your favourite Girl or Boy bands?

I actually do not have one to be honest because I listen to music from artists not bands.

This is going to sound so crazy but my guilty pleasure is opening the fridge early in the morning and finishing a huge packet of olives! Another guilty pleasure of mine is eating a whole packet of crisps in one sitting.

Whom do you talk to if you need career advice or advice regarding studies?

If I ever need advice I would go straight to my parents first.

Here is the official logo for the award:

  1. Nabeeha from Brainstorms Blog – I stumbled upon Nabeeha’s blog recently and it is absolutely super amazing. Her blog is super organised in different categories and she posts amazing blog posts. What inspired me the most about her blog is her blogger up series where she brings beginner blogs into the spotlight. Her blog posts are really aesthetic and she posts consistently which I believe is very important.
  2. Miriam from Inside Miriam’s mind – I discovered Miriam via other blogs and I must say her posts are really good. She posts consistently and her featured images look absolutely great. I love her blogs sidebar, it’s really pretty and it does match the colour scheme of her blogs logo. What inspired me about her blog is her basic bullet journal journal essentials post, it’s a really good post. She posts a variety of content as well which is really important.
  3. Rayna from Ray’s Realm – Ah what can I say about Rayna’s blog it’s just tres magnifique. Her blog and featured images are ever so aesthetic. One super unique aspect about her blog is her blog’s magazine which is something I don’t see a lot. Her content is not rushed and I can tell she posts some time in her blog which is important to do. She also does a photography challenge on her blog as well and it’s a really good initiative.
  4. MJ from Original Teen Muslimah – I came across MJ’s blog months ago but what can I say her blog is truly inspirational and I can’t leave her from this list. She posts a lot about Islam, Modest Islamic Fashion, blogger interviews and some ask me posts. Her content is so inspiring and when I discovered her blog I hit the follow button straight away. Personally, her post “Debunking Muslim Myths’ is one of my favourite posts from her because she debunks the most popular myths that our absolutely 100% not true. And to put a huge cherry on top she even has an advice column on her blog!
  5. Habibata from The Modest Aristocrat – Habibata is a modest fashion hijabi blogger and her blog is ever so good. Her faison posts are amazing and really helpful. What inspires me the most about her blog is her Islamic Book Downloads.

Her featured images are beautiful and the way she layouts her posts is amazing. Overall, I love her hello July & June recap post the most. Her Pinterest feed is immaculate!
  7. Nehal from Quirky Pages – Nehal’s stories on her blog are ever so inspirational and amazing. I really love her six word stories as well, they are really unique to the other rounds I read and that makes them stand out. Her poems are amazing and I love her “Sweet or Savoury” poem the most.

Maya’s Life and Travels is a lifestyle, beauty, fashion and travel blog founded in December 2020. I post travel posts about the UAE, study tips, weekly affirmations, beauty posts, lifestyle posts and some helpful life tips. I created Maya’s Life and Travels because I have always had a passion for beauty, fashion, travelling and writing and I really wanted to share it with the world. Some of my goals for this blog is to make it well known, reach 1k followers or more and to do some collaboration with brands.

What is the greatest risk you have ever taken?

Well to be honest I actually don’t know because I have taken so many risks in my life that I just can’t count!

What period would you travel to if you were given a time machine?

I would travel to the Islamic Golden age because that’s when the Islamic Empire grew as well as Islam. During the time, men and women of different cultures worked together to build inventions as well as discoveries that changed our world. One amazing invention of the Islamic Golden Age was when Fatima Al Fihri founded the world’s oldest university 1,150 years ago in Fez, Morocco. Another huge part of the Islamic Golden Age is when Algebra was founded by Al Khwarizmi. He also wrote a book about it called Al Jabr wal Muqabala which introduced Algebra which load and loads of us use today.

What is one thing that you absolutely hate about WordPress?

I just hate the updates because they take away lots of amazing things sometimes and replace them.

What makes your day better?

Listening to music makes my day better because it calms me down when I am sad and it just makes me feel better.

Describe your blog in 3 words

Aesthetic, classy, beautiful

  • What are some mistakes you made when you first started blogging and have you learnt from them?
  • Why did you create your blog?
  • What is your favourite singer or band?
  • If you had to do one thing for the rest of your life what would you do?

Thank you so much Nabeeha for nominating me, please do check out her blog! Thanks for reading and signing off for today!

Eid Al Adha 2021 highlights ♡

Hi everyone, welcome or welcome back to Maya’s Life and Travels. Yesterday was Eid Al Adha! If you do not know what Eid Al Adha is, Eid Al Adha is the second Eid and it marks the end of Hajj (pilgrimage). I had a really fun Eid and I wanted to share some Eid highlights with you guys so let’s get started!

One big highlight of the day for me was my henna! I got it done the day before Eid and it’s just absolutely (*chef’s kiss*) tres magnifique.

Before Eid, I made this hanging decoration to hang up in my room! I have not made any decorations before Eid so this was actually the first time I have made one. I kind of had to rush it because I had to go somewhere but overall I am really pleased with my results!

(Sorry for the bad picture quality, it was clearer on my phone)

For Eid, I wore this beautiful pink kaftan! I have the kaftan in multiple colours and I would say the pink one is one of my favourites out of all of them.

These were some of my highlights of Eid Al Adha! Thanks for reading and signing off for today!

Lessons we can learn from the Aladdin live action♡

Hi everyone, welcome back to Maya’s Life and Travels. Recently, I have been reading lots of posts about lessons we can learn from certain movies and today I wanted to do one about the Aladdin live action. I highly recommend you watch it if you haven’t watched it. The one thing that makes the movie stand out from other usual Disney movies is the way Disney hired actors to play main roles that fit the film and the culture behind the film instead of white actors for example Aladdin is played by Egyptian actor Mena Massoud instead of a usual white actor that is quite common in Disney movies. There are so much life lessons we can learn from Aladdin and in this post I share some of them. Alright, let’s get started.

Here is the Aladdin 2019 movie trailer linked below:

1. Everyone’s real character shines through in the end

When Aladdin encountered the Genie (played by Will Smith) in the cave of wonders he asked for him to be a Prince to fall in love with Jasmine. Prince Ali and Aladdin are two different characters from 2 different worlds. No one could see the real Aladdin, they could only see this Prince on the outside but they couldn’t see the real Aladdin on the inside.

“You look like a Prince on the outside but I didn’t change anything on the inside.”

THE GENIE (WILL SMITH) TO ALADDIN (MENA MASSOUD)

Jasmine was the only person to see Prince Ali for who he really was, Aladdin. The Genie may have changed Aladdin on the outside but nothing could change his character on the inside that would shine through in the end. Jasmine didn’t like him for the fact that he was a prince, she liked him for who he really was deep down.

Watch the 'Aladdin' Live-Action Remake Teaser Trailer

2. SOME OF THE RULES NEED TO BE CHANGED

Jasmine was forbidden to leave her palace and she also was only allowed to marry a prince. Since she is women, she can’t be Sultan. Jasmine ended up breaking the rules and changing them in the end she married Aladdin and became Sultan like her father.

“I THOUGHT A PRINCESS COULD GO ANYWHERE” – ALADDIN

“NOT THIS PRINCESS” – JASMINE

ALADDIN (MENA MASSOUD) TO PRINCESS JASMINE (NAOMI SCOTT)

Jasmine followed her own set of rules, created her own laws and she became her own ruler. This is what we call an amazing ruler.

3. BE YOURSELF

Jasmine didn’t love Prince Ali because of him being a Prince and rish, she loved Aladdin for who he really was. Aladdin changed who he was to impress Jasmine but in the end he could have just been himself, who he was on the inside. Jasmine liked him for who he was and that is the most important thing.

Online Shopping Weekly haul♡

Hey everyone, welcome or welcome back to Maya’s Life and Travels. Online shopping is something I got into a lot since lockdown and its super convenient because you can buy stuff online without leaving the comfort of your own home. So far this week I went online and I got some stuff and I wanted to share it with you guys. Alright, let’s get started.

First off, I got this desk mat from YSAGI on Amazon for my desk! A desk mat is something I really needed for my desk because I had no desk mat before I got this and I really needed one. My desk area looked much nicer with this and I highly getting a desk mat for your desk. You can get the YSAGI desk mat in any colour on Amazon in your own country by clicking the link here. I got the desk mat in pink.

When I first started journaling in June I started off with 2 washi tapes and I wanted more and I headed to amazon again to get some more and then I found these ones. Washi tapes are something that you can use for more than one thing and they really look beautiful when you use them in your journal. I started using some washi tapes in my schoolbooks and they make them look so much more aesthetic, so I recommend that you try it out! I don’t remember what washi tapes I got but if you want to purchase washi tapes I recommend heading to Amazon as there is a variety of washi tapes there.

I needed some aesthetic new stickers for my journal so I went on Amazon and I got these Pink VSCO Girl Waterproof stickers from El Nido Design on Amazon. The stickers came in an 100 pack and i am so happy with my purchase. This is the first time I shopped with El Nido via Amazon and I am definitely going to shop with them again. I needed new stickers because I wanted some new ones for my bullet journal. These stickers also come in blue and purple. If you would like to buy these stickers from El Nido Design, you can by them in your own country on Amazon by clicking the link here.

I loved all the products I bought and I would highly recommend them! Let me know your favorite one out of all of them and if you are going to buy them! Also, I reached 200 followers on the blog so let me know what I should do for a 200 followers celebration. I just wanted to say thank you so much for 200 followers, I am extremely grateful. INTERVIEW WITH HREEM

Hey everyone, welcome or welcome back to Maya’s Life and Travels. Today I had the lovely chance to interview Hreem from Chic Life Thru My Lens. Hreem is an amazing blogger so make sure to check out her blog by clicking the link here. If you would like to be interviewed for the blogger interview series please reach out to me via my blog’s contact page. Alright, let’s get started with this interview!

1. Hi Hreem, thank you so much for agreeing to be part of the blogger interview series. For anybody that doesn’t know you, why don’t you explain a bit about you and your blog?

Hey Maya! Thanks for having me on the series 🙂 So I’m Hreem (with a silent H lol), I’m 15 years old and I’ve been blogging for 3 years. My blog is really just based on my interests and things that happen in my life, like music, photography and baking. I don’t have a main topic I just love talking about things that I think other people might relate to!

2. When you created Chic Life Thru My Lens did you have any specific goals for the blog and have you achieved those goals yet?

Honestly, when I first started my blog I feel like the community was a lot smaller than it is now and I was like 12 so my main goal was really just to have people read and comment on my blog why definitely happens now and I’m so happy about that ☺️. I also wanted to write posts that we more authentic and things that I am interested in because at first I was pretty clueless about how to be interesting and I know I would do things similar to other bloggers I followed. That’s another goal I’ve achieved because I feel like the posts I write now are things that I am genuinely passionate about.

3.What inspired you to name your blog “Chic Life Thru My Lens?”

Well, originally I was planning to make my blog centred around photography so my mom and I came up with the name to be like me showing the “chic life” through my camera “lens”. It’s really random but I’d never be able to change the name now because I’m so attached to it 😂.

4. Who or what inspired you to start blogging?

I started my blog because I had just recently read the whole ‘Girl Online’ series by Zoella and thought it would be so fun to have a blog just like that. Then I realised that Zoe actually had a blog in real life and I was just like yeah I have to make my own blog now.

5.On your blog you mention you are an introvert, have you got any tips for any introverts out there that are struggling?

My main tip for other introverts is don’t do things that would make you seem extroverted if they make you uncomfortable or you just don’t enjoy it because there’s really no point. Plus introverts are pretty awesome so just be yourself.

6. You also mentioned that you have taken up journaling what inspired you to start journaling and would you say that you have changed throughout your journals?

Yess I love journaling haha. Okay, so I started journaling also because of a book series (Dork Diaries, so iconic) and because basically every girl in any movie or book at the time would have a journal and I wanted to be like that. Now I really love writing in my journal about random things I’ve been thinking about or things that I want to remember and yeah it’s just really fun. I don’t think I’ve really changed much except for the fact that I write a lot more now than I did when I first began. Oh and that I’ve stopped making rules about how I should write and what I should put in and I can just randomly stick in some poems or pictures that I love 💞

INTERVIEW WITH POORWA

Hey everyone, welcome or welcome back to Maya’s Life and Travels. Today I had the lovely chance to interview Poorwa from Poorwa’s blog. Poorwa is an amazing blogger so make sure to check out her blog by clicking the link here. If you would like to be interviewed for the blogger interview series please reach out to me via my blog’s contact page. Alright, let’s get started with this interview!

1. Hi Poorwa. Thank you so much for agreeing to do this interview. Can you introduce yourself and tell the readers a bit about you and your blog?

Hi everyone! Thanks for having me! I’m Poorwa, the teenage girl behind Poorwa’s blog. My blog is mainly a lifestyle blog, where I talk about my interests and write about things I like and relate to me. I’m a huge music lover and you can see that in all of my posts. I also have a hobby of photography, so I sometimes share pictures of nature captured by me. I love making friends through blogging and I think my blogging friends are the ones who make me keep doing what I do.

2. What inspired you to create Poorwa’s blog?

Blogging was a chapter of my 10th I.T. book. That’s when I got to know about it and I thought that I have to give it a try. My I.T. teacher motivated me to create a blog, as she got transferred to another state the same year, I had to do this for her. I remember how proud she was of me when I told her that I’ve started blogging. To know the complete story behind my blog, you can read this post of mine- My Blogging Journey: Why I Started Poorwa’s blog

3. You talk about your love for music a lot in your blog. Who is your favorite music artist and why?

Yes, music is my life and I really mean it. I’m an international music lover, I listen to songs in different languages as I believe that music has no language barrier. I listen to Western and Korean Pop the most. My favorite music artists are BTS, Selena Gomez, NCT, Little Mix, and Taylor Swift.

poorwas-blog-interview

4. When you created Poorwa’s blog what did you hope to achieve? And, have you achieved those things?

I didn’t hope for anything, to be honest. I just wanted to take a look into the online world and I thought maybe creating a blog would help. Now when I look back, I’m grateful that I started blogging. I have achieved the things I had never imagined about. I’m really very satisfied with what I’ve been getting through blogging.

5. You have mentioned you like photography on your blog. What tips would you have for any aspiring photographers?

For me, photography is all about interest. It is the most fun thing for the people who really like photography and at the same point, boring for those who don’t. Photography is in my top favorite hobbies, I’m not an expert but all I can say to any aspiring photographers reading this that you’ve got the talent. Have fun with what you’re doing and try to feel the moment you’re capturing. You should learn how to be satisfied with your work. It will get better and better.

6. How do you manage blogging and schoolwork?

Blogging has never affected my school life. I know it gets hard sometimes to manage our time but that’s not really the case for me. My trick to manage blogging and schoolwork is that I focus on what I’m doing at the current moment. Like, when I’m between my class, I focus on the class only and don’t wander around the blogosphere. And I don’t try to do my homework when I’m working on my blog. I think that’s really helpful- focusing on one thing at one time. That’s how I find enough time to do my school work and also to do blogging.

7. Finally, do you have anything else you want to say for the readers?

Thanks for having me here! I hope you had fun reading my answers because I really did enjoy answering Maya’s question. Have a great day everyone and show Maya’s Life and Travels lots of love, she’s amazing! Take care and stay safe!

Thank you so much Poorwa for agreeing to this interview, please make sure to check out her blog. If you would like to be interviewed please reach out to me via my blogs contact page. Let me know your favourite part of the interview in the comments and what blogger you want me to interview next!

June monthly review♡

Hi everyone, welcome or welcome back to Maya’s Life and Travels. I can’t believe it’s July already, time has flown by so fast! I hope the month of June served you all well. We are in the final stretch of 2021 and are in the middle of year now. I don’t know where all those 6 months went. For me, it feels like January was yesterday! June was a really good month for me, it was my birthday month and it was the month my blog grew a lot. I always look forward to the month of June every year because of my birthday and the summer holidays and I still can’t believe it just flew around the corner.

First off, I got to do some really fun posts this month and I also got to start my very own blogger interview series. I also started doing some ACNH (Animal Crossing New Horizons) gaming content which is something I am going to be doing more of on the blog. In addition, I also started doing more ‘How to” blogging posts as well. I started doing some more beauty posts since I am a beauty blogger as well. Here are some of my favourite posts I did last month:

I was nominated for some awards and if you want to see the awards I got nominated for you can read more in this post here. I created my own “Inspirational Blogger Award” which is my own blogger award and to start it off, I nominated 7 bloggers. If you want to learn more about the award, make sure to check out the post here. I always wanted to create my own award and I am really proud of myself because I finally did it.

On the blog, we also reached 200 followers yesterday which is a huge achievement! Let me know in the comments what you want me to do for a 200 followers celebration! I am grateful to all my readers for showing me so much support on this blog. My blog statistics this month were a bit low compared to other months which is something I am going to work on. The highest views we ever got were a whopping 2067 views in April. On the other hand, we also reached 5550+ views in total!

My blog stats for last month

It was my birthday on the 18th of June and I shared some of my highlights of the day with you guys in this post. This was my first ever birthday I had on the blog and I really enjoyed it. Here are some of the presents I got:

Jetson Jewel shoes from Kurt geiger
I got this new phone case

I also shared some Highlights from my Birthday in this short YouTube video I published on my blog’s YouTube channel. Feel free to check it out!

I published 3 ways to revise for your upcoming exam. I had exams last month and I was really stressed out for them and I am so glad they are finally over.

I shared some of my lipgloss monthly favourites and I also did reviews on some of my favourite lipgloss. I also did a Kiko Milano haul and I brought 2 3D hydra lip glosses and I also reviewed them in the post. Here are the colours I got:

Left: 04 Pearly Peach Rose and Right: 03 Pearly Apricot

Self care is something I got into a lot in June and is something I do practise regularly. I got really into face masks last month and I also shared some of my favourite face masks to put on.

Reading was something I also got into a lot in June and has become a regular habit for me. My favourite book of last month was Rumaysa: A fairytale. I also published a book review of the book so if you want to read the review click here. If you don’t know about the book, Rumaysa: A fairytale is a trio of famous fairy tales Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Rapunzel rewritten all composed into one book. The characters and the story are rewritten in a more Muslim perspective and that is something I really love about the book because there are not a lot of books where girls have brown skin and wear a hijab.

Now let’s get onto some big, big news! I opened up guest posting on my blog in June so if you want to guest post on Maya’s Life and Travels please fill out this form by clicking the link here. Once you have filled in all the questions in the form, please email me your post at mayaslifeandtravels@outlook.com and I will get back to you shortly.

I started journaling in June and I purchased a journaling kit and I will share it on the blog soon! Right now, I only have done my future log which I promise I will share soon!

I got into the habit of creating mood boards in June and it is something I really enjoy doing. Here are some of the moodboards I created so far:

This is my playlist for June! (Some of the song’s are in English). I discovered lots of new artists in June and I fell in love with even more songs. In June, I loved listening to Saad Lamjarred song Lm3allem the most as well as Ensay by Mohamed Ramadan and Mamnoo Ellames by Hala Al Turk.

IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!

Hey everyone, welcome or welcome back to Maya’s Life and Travels. Today I am doing a super special post because it’s (drumroll please!)… my birthday! This is my first ever birthday on my blog so I really wanted to share it with you guys! Alright, let’s get started. Before I show you guys a few…

The best performing post of June was “It’s my birthday” with a total 46 views since it was published!

I published 20 posts in total in June on Maya’s Life and Travels.Overall, my June 2021 was an amazing month and I loved every part of it. My favourite part of June was my birthday (of course)! I started lots of new things in June and I believe I had a really productive month.

I have lots of posts planned for July including some interviews, guest posts, collabs and some more summer posts. I hope everyone had a wonderful June and I hope you all have an amazing July ahead. If you had to change your name, what would your new name be, and why would you choose that name?

Well, if I had to change my name, I would change it to Latifa because I love that name so much! If you didn’t know, Latifa means gentle, kind, pleasant and friendly in Arabic.

What’s your favorite sport? Why do you like it?

I don’t really have a favourite sport but I have two which are, swimming and taekwondo. The reason why Taekwondo is one of my favourite sports is because I have been doing it for 8 years and it is become part of my life since then. I was the only girl in my whole class when I started taekwondo and to be honest the class was full of boys but over the years some girls have came along. There are more boys than girls in my Taekwondo. When I started Taekwondo I was also doing Karate as well but I gave up on Karate because I wanted to go on and pursue Taekwondo.

In addition, the reason why swimming is one of my favourite sports is because I love to swim and take a dip in the pool. I think everyone needs that in their life.

What do you do in your free time, when you’re bored?

I just go on social media, write blog posts, text my friends, surf the internet, watch Netflix or just relax.

How do you practice self care in your worst days?

I just put on a face mask and relax and listen to music. It really is that simple for me.

What is your version of – There are two kinds of people in this world…?

I couldn’t narrow it down to one so I have ✨ 3 reasons✨ and they are:

  1. There are two kinds of people in this world, the believers and the non believers.
  2. There are two kinds of people in this world, the classy and the fabulous.
  3. There are two kinds of people in this world, the rich and the poor.

What made you realize that you wanted to be a blogger?

Nothing made me realize that I wanted to be a blogger, I just wanted to be one!

What’s the one thing that you miss when you were little?

Having no care in the world and living life like I have nothing to worry about and the world being cupcakes and rainbows (but it’s not but when I was really little, I thought that!)

What’s the most interesting thing you’ve read or seen this week?

The Key to Organising and styling your wardrobe: Clothing, Bags and Jewelry edition – By Maryam from Infinitely a Day Dreamer

What is your most loved possession?

I don’t have one really but my most loved possessions are my shoes, bags, makeup, clothes, hair and my jewelry.

What songs speak to you the most?

No song speaks to me the most, but however my whole YouTube playlist does! Feel free to check it out and tell me what song is your favourite.

Some of Saumya’s questions I already answered in Poorwa questions as Poorwa said we could choose any 11 questions so I will just answer the questions I haven’t answered already from Saumya!

What are you currently worried about?

Not being able to finish this post!

What movie can you watch over and over without ever getting tired of?

I actually really don’t know!

What celebrity would you rate as a perfect 10?

To be honest I don’t know!

If you could know the absolute and total truth to one question, what question would you ask?

Why are our dreams not reality?

What memory do you just keep going back to?

The day I decided to create this blog and when I wrote my first ever blog post. That was an amazing moment and something I will never forget, ever.

What’s the most useless talent you have?

Eating late at night!

What are you completely over and done with?

I am over and done with starting lots of blog posts all at once and leaving it in my drafts for months and completely forgetting about it and changing my mind about it. Now, I only focus on one blog post and when its published I focus and out my hard effort into another one.

I a going to ask the same questions I asked my nominees for the Inspirational Blogger Award. Feel free to check out the post below:

  1. What languages do you wish you could speak and what languages do you speak?
  2. If you had the power to change anything in the world what word it be? And, why?
  3. What are some goals for your blog and have you achieved them yet?
  4. If you could have an all-expenses paid trip to see any famous world landmark, which one would you visit and why?
  5. What is the one thing that scares you the most and why?
  6. If you had the chance to have one superpower what would it be? Why?

ANSWERING YOUR Q & A QUESTIONS PART 1

Hi everyone, welcome or welcome back to Maya’s Life and Travels. I am sure all of you have been waiting for the Q & A post and it’s finally here! To be honest, I didn’t have time to do this long post and I wasn’t bothered too but I am finally motivated too now. For those of you that didn’t know, I reached 100 followers on the blog in April and in celebration I asked all my readers to send in any questions they have and in this post I will be answering them. I can’t believe how far my blog has grown since April, I am nearly at 200 followers as well! If you didn’t get to ask a question you can still ask one and I will be able to answer them. This is part 1 of answering your Q & A questions and I will share part 2 soon. Alright, let’s jump into this post and get started!

QUESTION 1: WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SUBJECT?

My favourite subject at school is History!

QUESTION 2: WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK?

Well, right now it would be Rumaysa A fairytale! I recently finished it and I couldn’t put it down, that’s how good it is. For those of you that do not know, Rumaysa a Fairytale is basically a trio of famous fairy tales, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Rapunzel all composed into one book. The book is rewritten, along with the characters, in a more Arab/Muslim perspective. I also did a Book Review about the book on my blog recently so if you want to check it out click the link here

QUESTION 3: IF YOU HAD TO EAT ONE THING FOR YOUR ENTIRE LIFE, WHAT WOULD YOU CHOOSE?

I would eat Ice Cream for my entire life! If that happened it would amazing!

QUESTION 4: IF YOU HAD TO GET RID OF ONE THING IN THE WORLD WHAT WOULD IT BE?

I actually really don’t know to be honest. If I had to get rid of something I would choose spiders because I don’t like them and whenever I hear there is a spider I just walk away, far away from it.

QUESTION 5: WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT THE UAE

I don’t have a favourite thing about the UAE because I love every part of it so much! But if I had to choose one favourite thing it would be the malls because I love shopping!

QUESTION 6: WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE FOOD?

Chicken Shawarma! Whenever I hear a restuarant has I have to get it and if I don’t get and I get something else I regret it sometimes!

QUESTION 7: WHAT IS ONE DESSERT YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT?

I can’t live without Tiramisu!

QUESTION 7: WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE HOLLYWOOD ACTOR/ACTRESS?

My favourite Hollywood actor is Will Smith because he did amazing at playing the Genie in the Aladdin Live action.

QUESTION 8: WHAT ARE YOUR INTERESTS APART FROM BLOGGING?

Some of my key  interests are taekwondo, journaling, singing, makeup, fashion and beauty.

QUESTION 9: WHAT DO YOU RATHER HAVE NO WIFI FOREVER OR NO BOOKS FOREVER?

So now I am going to go into a personal story right now! One day ages ago, we had no WiFi at home and that day was just torture for me, I had nothing to do and I couldn’t use my phone because there was no WiFi and I tried to find Wifi but there was none and I had to wait hours until we went to the mall. I just had to do nothing until we went to the mall. Although books are an amazing source of education, I would rather have no books forever and have WiFi because you can still access books online on websites such as Goodreads. But, I do love books as well!

QUESTION 10: DO YOU WISH TO HAVE A PET?

I had a cat called Bubbly but we had to give her up a couple of weeks ago because we didn’t have time to look after anymore so we put her up for adoption. But, here are some pictures of her if anyone wants to see her!

QUESTION 11: WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR GOALS FOR YOUR BLOG BY THE END OF THE YEAR?

Well, before the end of the year, some of my goals for my blog would be to work with brands, get more subscribers to my email list, get 500 followers on the blog, post regularly and make the blog well known over the internet!

I just wanted to end this post with some of my favourite quotes so here they are:

INTERVIEW WITH ZAINAB CHATS

Hi everyone, welcome or welcome back to Maya’s Life and Travels. I have some exciting news! I am starting a Blogger Interview Series on my blog. In today’s post, I had the lovely chance to interview Zainab from the blog Zainab Chats. If you would like to be interviewed for the blogger interview series please reach out to me via my blog’s contact page. Alright, let’s get started with this interview!

1.Hey Zainab, thank you so much for agreeing to be part of this blogger interview series. For anybody that doesn’t know you, why don’t you explain a bit about you and your blog?

Hello everyone, my name is Zainab! I’m a Teen Positivity Blogger and Aspiring Blogger from: Zainab Chats! My blog’s aim is to increase positivity in mainly teenagers but in anybody’s life and to spread love. It’s also to fuel my passion for journalism!

2. You interview lots of people on your blog. Do you have any tips for beginners that want to start interviewing people?

I do – and I find it’s a great practice of journalism! I did a whole post on this which I can link here. However, my main tip is to start small, as obviously not everyone will respond. Maybe start with some bloggers or small youtubers and then you could move onto actors, entrepreneurs, authors etc! Whoever you want!

3.When you created Zainab Chats, did you have any goals that you wanted to accomplish for it? And, did you achieve those goals?

Honestly, I think 100 followers was a pretty big goal which I’m so thankful and grateful to everyone for achieving. Right now, my 2021 goal is 500 followers which hopefully I can surpass my December. But my biggest goal for the future is 1000 followers (that would be incredible!)

4. What is one of your struggles that you face as a teen blogger?

I think that at the beginning it was balancing my blog with school, but I’ve managed to overcome that now, by scheduling my posts on the weekends so it doesn’t interfere with school. My current one is finding people to interview, but it’s definitely getting better and I have some great interviews coming soon!

5. In your blog you mentioned that you recently had some exams. Do you have any exam tips for anyone taking exams around the world right now?

Yep – they are over now which has been a huge weight off my shoulders! I’d say my biggest tip is to space out your revision effectively using a revision timetable so you can study multiple subjects well in one day (this is a method called The Pomodoro Method!) You can find more exam advice on my blog here!

6.You have been blogging for a long time now, what are some mistakes you made when you first started blogging and have you overcome them?

One of the biggest mistakes I’ve made (which I still do now) is not engaging with others! It’s not only detrimental to your own engagement, but also you’re missing out on reading so many amazing posts. I’m trying to work on this, but setting aside time each day definitely helps!

7. Thanks again for agreeing to take part in the blogger interview series, Zainab. Is there anything you want to add for the readers?

Just thank you to Maya for interviewing me, this was a lot of fun! I’d love it if you could check out my Blog and Instagram (@zainabchats). I’d love to chat with you. Bye!

Thank you so much Zainab for agreeing to this interview, please make sure to check out her blog and her Instagram. If you would like to be interviewed please reach out to me via my blogs contact page. Let me know your favourite part of the interview in the comments and what blogger you want me to interview next!

MY LIPGLOSS MONTHLY FAVOURITES

Hey everyone, welcome or welcome back to Maya’s Life and Travels. I recently bought some new lip gloss from one of my favourite beauty brands so because of that today’s post will be all about lipgloss! Lipgloss is one of my favourite beauty products and I just love it so much. I own tons of lip gloss from multiple brands and I really wanted to share some of my monthly lip gloss favourites as well as writing a review of them.

NYX is one of my favourite makeup brands and I just adore their lip glosses! I really love the colours in the Filler Instinct Plumping Lipgloss by NYX! There are about 6 colours in the set and I really love the sparkling base one the most. But, all of the colours are just simply beautiful! One benefit of buying the NYX Filler Instinct Plumping Lip Gloss is that it makes your pout look more fuller. When you open the lipgloss it is really sparkly as well as glossy and it really plumped my lips up when I put it on. There is also a slightly arched applicator as well. The lip glosses are also very affordable and they sell for $7 each on the NYX website.

Before you buy the product, I just wanted to let you know that NYX is a certified and is acknowledged by PETA as a cruelty free makeup brand that do not test their products on animals. Currently, the Filler Instinct’s are in my monthly lip gloss favourites so if you haven’t bought I recommend to buy it now by clicking here and you will definitely not regret your purchase.

The 3d hydra lip glosses from Kiko Milano are just (*chef’s kiss*) simply divine. There are about a whopping 40 shades to choose from which is a huge variety. There are some lip glosses that are shiny and there are some that are non shiny. I was really attracted to 04 Pearly Peach Rose because its in a really nice colour and on top of it it is just shinny. I also went and got 03 Pearly Apricot as well. I tend to look for shiny lip glosses so this does tick the boxes for me. When I first applied it after buying it I didn’t put lipstick underneath it but I personally believe it doesn’t need it and it’s kind of useless to put lipstick underneath because I was looking at some photos online with lipstick underneath and you don’t notice the shimmer a lot. This is definitely my go to lip gloss!

The texture of the lipgloss feels really wonderful and it really blends into your lips really well. What really drew me onto the lipgloss was the packaging because I have tons of lip gloss with just the normal lipgloss design but the packaging for the 3d Hydra Lip Gloss is really unique because it looks so contemporary. The lipgloss gives your lips a lot of shine and when I put it on my lips it made them look really metallic like. It feels really comfortable on my lips unlike when I tried previous lipsticks and lipglosses. Both of the colours plumps up my lips a lot. Also, there is a scent before you apply the lipstick and when you open the lip gloss but it does go when you apply it.

All the colours available!

Before you buy the product, I just wanted to let you know that Kiko Milano is a cruelty free makeup brand and they DO NOT test the products or ingredients on animals. If you haven’t bought the 3d Hydra Lipgloss I really recommend to buy it now by clicking here and you will definitely not regret your purchase.

SUMMER HAIRSTYLES YOU CAN EASILY RECREATE YOUSELF

Hey everyone, welcome or welcome back to Maya’s Life and Travels. In celebration of Summer, in today’s post I wanted to share some summer hairstyles that you can easily recreate yourself. What is your go to summer hairstyle? Do you have one? Or, do you not have one? Personally, I don’t have one as I just style my hair how I want each day. Read on to find a few summer hairstyles you can easily recreate yourself!

MESSY BUN

A messy bun is one of those hairstyles for any occasion! I just love the chic look of this hairstyle its (*chef’s kiss*) tres, tres magnifique!

HALF UP HALF DOWN

I do this hairstyle a lot in my hair and I love it so so much! I have been doing this in my hair for years so I strongly recommend this hairstyle to anyone that hasn’t tried it before. As a person with long hair I do have some negatives about this hairstyle because if you leave it in for hours upon hours it can extremely hurt your hair so much when you take it out. My scalp hurts for hours when I take it out! So, I suggest getting scissors and cutting the hair band out of your hair so you don’t face that tremendous pain!

ROPE BRAID PONYTAIL

This is another hairstyle I do in my hair regularly and I really love the look it gives off. I love high ponytails so it really does tick all the boxes for me. Here are 6 steps to success in doing the perfect rope braid! (this image is sourced from Pinterest and is therefore not my own!)

STUDY TIPS: 3 WAYS TO REVISE FOR YOUR UPCOMING EXAM

Hey everyone, welcome or welcome back to Maya’s Life and Travels. Recently, I have been spending so much time revising for exams and I have been waking up earlier than usual to revise. I have my own personal revision methods to revise and I really wanted to share them with you guys.

Anyways, that’s enough of talking about my exams, I just wanted to say that I uploaded a new video on the Youtube Channel where I share some highlights from my birthday. It’s a super short video since I have been busy so check it out (video linked below).

METHOD 1 – REWRITING 10 – 20 TIMES AND REPEATING EACH TIME YOU WRITE SOMETHING

So, for me method one is the most time consuming but I believe it is the most effective one out of all of them. First off, find something really important relating to a certain topic in your upcoming exam. So for this example I want to revise the definition of a strong acid. Next, write the definition 10 – 20 times and each time you write it say the definition out loud until you remember it off by heart. I did this method for my exams and I am safe to say it actually works really well, I was able to remember things because of method 1. But, it’s all good doing method 1 once because it can be easy to forget  the thing you are revising so I suggest doing this every day until your exam.

METHOD 2 – MAKE REVISION CARDS

Now, I am sure all of you have heard of this way to revise. I know this one of the most simplest ones but I believes it is super effective. Revision cards are great to revise things that are really important in a certain topic. To do this method, write the question on one side and then write the answer on the other. Finally, keep revising and then get someone to test you. However, it is really to easy get confused so I suggest writing the subject at the top of the revision card to avoid confusion.

METHOD 3 – RECORD YOUR VOICE AND KEEP REPLAYING IT

Listening to your voice again and again and again can be so annoying for some people but when it comes to revising it is super useful. I have done this multiple times in the past and I can proudly say it 100% works. Recording your voice and replaying it is a more efficient method compared to method 1. When I did this for my exams, I recorded myself reading something from my revision powerpoint and I kept replaying it over and over again. Some studies show that you can learn in your sleep so if you record your voice before you go to sleep and place Airpods or Headphones in your ears when your sleeping you can learn it while your sleeping!

That’s some of the methods I use when I revise for exams! I am going to be doing more of these posts and I was thinking of doing a whole studying series where I post things relating to studying. What do you all think, do you want a studying series on the blog? I would love to hear from you all in the comments. See you in the next post.

Before I show you guys a few of the presents I got I just wanted to share a photo of the balloons. They are in my favourite colour rose gold! So here they are:

When I literally walked in I saw this and I saw balloons all over the floor and I was just like shocked because when I woke up this wasn’t there and it just literally appeared at 5pm on the wall! Also, I just love how the rose gold balloons are next to the Arabic Calligraphy because it looks (*chef’s kiss*) tres magnifique ✨

Here are some of the presents I got that I wanted to share with you guys:

This is literally one of my favourite pairs of trainers ever! When I saw these wrapped up in wrapping paper I was literally wondering what these were because it was like a big box. But, when I opened it I was shocked to see these trainers because the weird thing is I was looking on the Kurt Geiger website a few days/weeks back and these trainers just caught my eye! By the way, these are the Jetson Jewel trainers from Kurt Geiger.

I also got a new phone case! This is such a coincidence by the way because I have the same pattern as a cover for my nintendo switch and now I have it on my phone. I just love this so much it just so beautiful!

HOW TO ADD A BLOG POST SIGNATURE TO THE END OF YOUR BLOG POSTS

Hey everyone, welcome or welcome back to Maya’s Life and Travels. In today’s post, I thought I’d show you all how to add a signature to your blog posts. Signatures are something I know add to the end of my blog posts and they are a great way to finish off the post. When I started adding blog post signatures, I got more engagement and views than before when I didn’t add them.

A signature can be literally anything! Instead of writing your name you could write something similar to these ideas:

If you want to add a stylish font signature like I do head to dafont.com and choose a font. Then, screenshot the font and upload the image to the end of your the blog posts. Personally I believe this is the easiest method because if your image is saved to the WordPress media library it will only take a few seconds to select it and add it at the bottom of the blog post. You can also do the same method in Blogger. On the other hand, if you are not on the free wordpress plan like I am there are some WordPress signature plugins for you to use but personally I would go with this method because plugins can slow down your blog or website.

I made another website on Wix for a school project a while back so I also tried this method on Wix. First, go to your post editor. Then, click on the image option add your signature image and hit the apply button. And there you go it’s done.

You can also experiment your signature with lots of different fonts like this:

WHERE TO FIND THE BEST FREE STOCK IMAGES FOR YOU TO USE ON YOUR BLOG

Hey everyone. welcome or welcome back to Maya’s Life and Travels. Free stock images have helped me so much since I started blogging in December 2020. When I don’t have time to go and take my own photos for blog posts, I use stock images. I have signed up yo a lot of stock image websites recently so I thought, why not do a post about free stock images.

For me, stock images are really helpful when I need a desktop mockup or just when I need one image to add to a blog post. There are lots of free stock image sites out there and in this post I share the best free stock images for your blog.

Free stock images are images that have been shared on the internet or social media for free use. This means that you can use the images for free. There are lots of ways that you can use free stock images such as blog posts and social media. There are some rules to follow when using free stock images being you can’t redistribute the images like they are your own images.

There are lots of websites where you can get free stock images for you to use on your social media, blog or your website. Here are some of the best sites for free stock images:

WordPress gives you the option to use free stock images from Pexels. I really love using this website because there are a plethora of photos for you to use. Lots of amazingly talented photographers contribute to this site and that’s one thing I really love about Pexels. RUMAYSA A FAIRYTALE: BOOK REVIEW

Hey everyone, welcome or welcome back to Maya’s Life and Travels. Today I will be reviewing Rumaysa: a fairytale! I just finished it recently and its an amazing book! I saw this book in a store and I had to buy it! I couldn’t even put down this book, that’s how good it was. Before we get started, I just wanted to say there are some spoiler ahead so spoiler alert!!. Alright, let’s get started!

AUTHOR:

Radiya Hafiza

ILLUSTRATOR:

 Rhaida El Touny

STAR RATING:

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Rumaysa had lots of amazing official reviews on the first page of the book. Here are some reviews:

‘I loved the heroines of this wonderful tale, loved how their stories intersected each other and that they were their own rescuers and pathfinders. Three classic fairytales, beautifully woven together, sparkling with magic and humour.’ Nirzana Farooq, author of The Girl who stole the Elephant

‘An enchanting and cleverly woven trio of tales, filled with humour charm and magic Aisha Bushby, author of A Pocketful of Stars and Moonchild Voyage of Lost and Found.

THE STORY AND MY OPINION ON THE BOOK:

Rumaysa: A fairytale is a trio of famous fairy tales Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Rapunzel rewritten all composed into one book. The characters and the story are rewritten in a more Muslim perspective and that is something I really love about the book because there are not a lot of books where girls have brown skin and wear a hijab. Lots of fairytales are centered around white princesses that need rescuing by their ‘Prince Charming’  and this book is completely different and instead the book is centered around independent brown Muslim girls not being rescued but saving the day and being their own rescuers. The book also challenges lots of harmful stereotypes towards masculinity in fairytales.

This book really caught my eye because the cover says “Rumaysa, Rumaysa let down your hijab”. This really spoke to me because the author Radiya Hafiza changed the line ‘Rapunzel, Rapunzel let down your hair’ and to me it was a really powerful line because it changed the perspective of the story a lot. I couldn’t put this book down! I also really loved this book because the author (Radiya Hafiza) changed the names of the fairytale characters that lots of people love today to Rumaysa, Sleeping Sara and Cindereyla instead of Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella.

The book is about a couple called Naina and her husband Samar and they are a bit less fortunate than others because Samar couldn’t find any work but Naina spent her days sewing clothes for wealthier ladies. Naina was pregnant and there wasn’t any food for her unborn daughter, Rumaysa so Samar went out searching for food. He then to the garden of the witch of Splintefell and took her vegetables but she didn’t turn up even on his way home so he believed that she existed so he returned to the garden for two months every day. Sadly, right after Rumaysa was born the witch Cordelia came and stole Rumaysa because Samar stole from her garden. Since Rumaysa could turn things into gold because she eat from the witches garden Cordelia forced her to spin straw and turn it into gold. Cordelia also gave Rumaysa books to read but one day Rumaysa fell asleep and didn’t spin any straw so the next day Cordelia ripped them up and took them away. Cordelia kept forcing Rumaysa to spin golden straw until one day she revealed that she would take Rumaysa into a golden palace made out of all the golden straw Rumaysa had spun. But, Rumaysa wanted to escape. So she made a super long hijab made out of the golden straw and it reached the ground. Rumaysa then meets Suleiman that is looking for a Princess that got captured by a dragon and they escape together with her talking owl friend.

After that, Rumaysa enters Qamaroon, searching for her parents. In the book we then meet Cinderayla and Rumaysa fixes Alya’s dress that her stepmother Amelia ripped up with her golden straw (Rumaysa is like Alya’s fairy godmother) and they both head to the Eid ball. But, Alya’s stepmother did not let her go but she goes with Rumaysa in the end. Then at the ball, Prince Harun approaches her because of her beautiful golden dress but she doesn’t know he is the prince.   Her stepmother then approaches her.  Alya and Rumaysa leave the ball and they head to Alya’s house but Alya drops her golden slipper. The next day the Royal Guard comes to Alya’s house and tells her to try it on and then Prince Harun asked her to marry him but she turned her back on him and she walked off happily.

Then Rumaysa heads to the land of Farisia in search for her parents. She then meets Sleeping Sara who was placed in a tower by a magical dragon and put to sleep for 5 months. but, Rumaysa wakes her up. Suleiman then appears right after Rumaysa found Sara by mistake. In the end  Sleeping Sara is returned to her parents but the palace is burnt down by the dragon.

I really like that the book challenges lots of harmful stereotypes and also challenges the ideology that thin girls can only be the heroes in stories. Sleeping Sara is a plus sized girl but she is still a hero of her own story. I really hate that ideology because even if people are plus sized they can still save the day because it doesn’t matter how thin or fat you are as you are the hero of your own story. This book also talks about themes relevant to today’s society and fairytales. In fairytales men and boys are there to save the day but Suleiman doesn’t want to save the day because he wants invent in his house but he is there as a friend instead of saving the day. In addition, the book also talks about complex families in the tale of Cinderyala and I believe it is really relevant to today’s society.

My favourite character  would be Rumaysa because I love that even though she still hasn’t found her parents she is still persevering and not backing down. I also love that she is making the best out of her situation and helping people along her journey to find her parents. I believe characters like Cinderayla, Rumaysa and Sleeping Sara should be seen more in fairytales and books today because they are independent young girls that are saving themselves instead of waiting for a boy or a man to save them. It is those characters that we need today in our society.

I  can really relate to all the characters in this book because I have so much similarities with them and I look like them. Even the small things relate to me a lot like how Rumaysa reads books similar to the ones I read like 1001 Arabian Nights. Small things can really make a huge impact.

This book was a really amazing read and I recommend it to people who really want to read a retelling of classic fairytales or people who like books in the fantasy genre. If you happen to buy this book, there is a Q and A with the author at the end for you to read. I really did love reading it and I hope you do too!

SYNOPSIS:

For as long as she can remember Rumaysa has been locked away in her tower forced to spin straw into gold for the evil Witch, unable to leave. Until one day, after dropping a hijab out of her small window, Rumaysa realises how she might escape….

Thank you so much everyone for reading this book review. If you enjoyed it please tell me what you would like me to review next in the comments! I would love to read all of your suggestions!

  1. Cleanse your face with warm water as well as facial cleanser.
  2. Remove the mask from the packet and then unfold it and gently place it on your face.
  3. Leave the mask for 10 – 15 minutes on your face and then remove the face mask afterwards. Make sure to relax when putting it on!
  4. Then, gently pat your face for full absorption. Finally, if you want you can wash your face with circular motions afterwards.

WE BARE BEARS FACE MASK

( I used this face mask before I took the picture so that’s why it’s opened!)

I recently used this face mask on Sunday and I really loved this one. The reason why I choose to put this on is because I wanted a moisturizing and glossy face mask and this one basically ticked all my requirements. In addition, this face mask also improved skin dryness. This face mask is unisex meaning it can be used for both women and men. Again, I also recommend this face mask because it gives you amazing results so why not try it out? You can buy this face mask from any Miniso store in your country, if you have one so make sure you check google if your country has one, so your not missing out.

HOW TO USE:

ANIMAL CROSSING NEW HORIZONS: WHAT VILLAGERS SHALL I INCLUDE ON MY FAIRYCORE ISLAND?

Hi everyone, welcome or welcome back to Maya’s Life and Travels. I haven’t done a blog post in ages because I completely lost motivation, but I am back with some new content planned. Before I start this post, I just wanted to say that I have opened up guest posting on my blog so if you are willing to guest post on my blog please fill in this form by clicking the link here. Once you have filled in all the questions in the form, please email me your post at mayaslifeandtravels@outlook.com and I will get back to you shortly. Please also email me or reach out to me via my blogs contact page if you have any questions regarding guest posting. Alright, now let’s get into the post!

I have been playing Animal Crossing New Horizons since its release on March 20th 2020 and it is my favourite game to play on the Nintendo Switch. There are lots of aesthetics such as Fairycore, Kidcore and Cottagecore and they have become really popular in the game. The fairycore aesthetic is my favourite aesthetic and my island is all decorated in it. If you don’t know about the fairycore aesthetic it is an aesthetic surrounding the theme of nature, magic, butterflies, flowers and springtime. Personally, I believe fairycore is super popular in the game as lots of players have decorated their island in the aesthetic and have obtained villagers in the aesthetic.

In my island, I have lots of villagers in the fairycore aesthetic. When looking for fairycore villagers I tend to look for squirrels, horses, mice and rhinos and villagers with pastel colours and tones of pink and white.

I have made a Fairycore help sheet and I have also included 12 villagers for your Fairycore island! Feel free to download it below!

ME AND MY MULTIPLE PHONE CASES

Hey everyone, welcome or welcome back to Maya’s Life and Travels. Today, I really wanted to introduce you to my fashion. Phone cases as fashion is a growing trend and I believe they are the most important fashion accessory. Think about it like this, your using your phone time and time again and when you put it down what is the thing you see? Your phone case. When you take a selfie in the mirror, what do you see in the mirror in your hand? Your phone case. What do people see when you are on the phone or taking a selfie? Your phone case. When you put you phone down on a table with the screen down, what do people see? Your phone case. Phone cases are a huge trend right now.

When you are on your phone and a person comes up to you, they are likely to see your case and back of your phone before your face. That has happened to me lots of times. People come up to me and say “Wow (my real name) that’s a nice case. It’s so pretty. Where did you get it from?.” Having a good phone case can also change your mood and your personality and the way other people see you. Say if you have a black plain phone case, people might think your dull, boring and plain or yout noy bothered with sending out your fashion statement really. Or if you have a patterned and fashionable phone case people might think that you care about fashion. I am a person really passionate about fashion and I always try to make a fashion statement in multiple ways. Phone cases are your little fashion statement to the world. Phone cases can coordinate with your outfit as well.

I have multiple phone cases and I change them every day depending on my outfit or my mood. I am one of those fashionable, sassy types of girls so I always choose a phone case that matches my personality and my fashion. In this blog post I share some of my phone cases. I always try to find a phone case with that “look at me everyone, I am in the room, all eyes on me,” look and all the phone cases I buy have that look where people notice your phone case. Alright, yallah let’s get started.

Phone case 1 – Leopard print

None of you reading this blog know this but I love everything leopard print. That is the reason why I brought this phone case. I brought this because it relates to my personality and because it stands out. If you didn’t know when leopard print is used in female clothing it signifies independence, power and confidence. I love leopard print because when you think of a leopard you think of power and that is exactly why I love this feline print. In addition, some people see girls wearing leopard print as wild just like the feline. Leopard print is used a lot in haute couture brands such as Christian Dior and how can I forget Channel. In conclusion, Leopard print is one of those things that will never go out of style.

Phone case 2: Butterfly

Even though I don’t have this phone case on my phone a lot, I absolutely love it. I was in Dubai Mall and I was walking in the mall and there was a phone case stand. I went up to the stand and this phone case caught my eye instantly. I had to buy this because I really wanted a phone case with glitter! The reason why it caught my eye is the butterfly and the beautiful glitter. When the phone case is in my hand the glitter falls down and it is so beautiful.

EID 2021: WHAT I’M WEARING TOMORROW AND WHAT I AM DOING

Hi everyone, welcome or welcome back to Maya’s Life and Travels. First off, I want to say an early Eid Mubarak to all my Muslim brothers and sisters! I am sure that you all know that tomorrow is Eid Al Fitr which is a religious holiday celebrated by all Muslims around the world that marks the end of the ninth month of the Islamic Calendar, Ramadan. I remember myself yesterday waiting for the hilal sighting (which sighting of the crescent moon to let Muslims know if Eid is the next day and it also determines the end of Ramadan) in Saudi Arabia but there was no sighting of the hilal which means Eid will be on Thursday. This post is not going to be a long one because I need to get ready for Eid! I also wanted to say to keep Palestine in your prayers because they haven’t had a proper Eid in 7 decades. Alright, yallah let’s get started with this post!

In the morning after I get ready usually I have to go to the mosque to perform Salat Al Eid (Eid prayer) which is a special salah (prayer) to celebrate the two eids, Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha which is traditionally done on a musallah in the mosque or on a field. But this year I am doing it at home so I won’t be able to do it at a mosque. This year the Eid prayer will be done differently due to coronavirus and all that stuff. After the Eid Prayer, the imam delivers a Khutbah (a sermon) just like the Imam does on Jummah. After the Eid Prayer, we can all go and celebrate Eid with our family! I am going to my Grandma’s house after to celebrate with my family this year and we are going to have a huge feast! My family gives me both presents and money for Eid.

I am wearing a kaftan this year which is basically a female version of a Kandura but in multiple colours and with decorations on it. My kaftan is a bit similar to this one. I am really proud to own a full set of colourful kaftans because they are so beautiful!

I am also going to wear my Kurt Geiger bag with my Kaftan.

DO YOU CELEBRATE EID? WHAT ARE YOU WEARING FOR EID AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING? I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM ALL OF YOU IN THE COMMENTS AND IN THE FEEDBACK FORM

3 BEAUTY HACKS (THAT ACTUALLY WORK)

Hey everyone welcome or welcome back to Maya’s Life and Travels. Beauty is something that I adore and that’s why I decided to do a beauty post today. In today’s post I share 3 beauty hacks (that actually work)! Alright, yallah let’s get started with these beauty hacks!

HACK 1: USE VASELINE AROUND YOUR NAILS TO CATCH ANY STRAY NAIL POLISH PAINT

Pat some Vaseline around your nail bed and then paint your nails like you normally do. Once the Nail Polish is dry, wash your hands and then any excess paint that hit the Vaseline will run right off your nail. This also works with lip balm, just repeat the same process.

HACK 2: USE VASELINE TO PREVENT THE CAP ON YOUR NAIL POLISH FROM DRYING AND DRYING SHUT

Apply some Vaseline onto the neck of the Nail Polish bottle and say bye bye to stuck caps!

HACK 3: MAKE YOUR LIPSTICK STAY LONGER BY PUTTING TISSUE ON LIPS

After applying lipstick on lips, place tissue paper on your lips and dust translucent powder on it. By doing this your lipstick lasts long and you also get a perfect matte finish! How good is that!

DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THESE BEAUTY HACKS BEFORE? IF YOU DIDN’T HAVE YOU TRIED THEM YET? I HOPE YOU FIND THESE HACKS HELPFUL. ALSO, DO YOU WANT A PART 2 OF THIS POST? I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU ALL IN THE COMMENTS AND IN THE FEEDBACK FORM. THANKS FOR READING AND SIGNING OFF FOR TODAY!
